Common questions
What should I do right now if I can smell gas?
Do not touch any electrical switch, light or fan — a spark is the real hazard, not the smell. Open the windows and doors, shut the regulator or appliance isolation valve if it is safe to reach, take everyone out of the flat, and call from outside. For a piped natural gas supply, call the Mahanagar Gas emergency helpline first. For a cylinder or appliance-side fault, call us.
Do you charge a visit fee? How much will the repair cost?
Quoting is free — send the problem on WhatsApp and you get the visit charge and the likely repair cost back before anything is booked. Price is agreed before any work starts, and nothing is charged that you have not agreed to first. We deliberately do not advertise a single headline price, because a blocked burner jet and a re-routed copper gas line are not the same job and pretending otherwise usually means the real number appears later.
How quickly can you come?
Same-day is normal for Mira Road, Mira Bhayandar, Kashimira and Dahisar, which are closest to base. Borivali and Kandivali are usually same-day. Malad, Goregaon and Vasai are typically next-day. Suspected gas leaks are prioritised ahead of routine bookings everywhere.
Why is my gas flame orange or yellow instead of blue?
The air-to-gas mixture is wrong — usually a blocked burner jet, a clogged brass burner head, or an air shutter out of position. It wastes gas, blackens your utensils and cooks slower. Cleaning and re-tuning the burner normally fixes it in the same visit.
My auto-ignition clicks but the burner will not light. What is wrong?
On battery-ignition stoves, check the cell first — it is the most common cause and costs nothing to rule out. If a fresh battery does not help, it is usually a dirty or cracked electrode, a damaged lead, or a failed ignition module. All are replaceable without changing the stove.
Do I need a new stove for a Mahanagar Gas PNG connection?
Almost never. The stove stays; only the burner jets are swapped for the PNG size and the air mix re-tuned. Running LPG jets on a PNG supply gives a weak flame and wastes gas, which is why conversion after connection matters.
Do you repair built-in hobs, or only freestanding stoves?
Both, plus cooktops and cooking ranges including the gas oven side. Hobs are serviced in place wherever possible and lifted out of the platform cut-out properly when a fault needs access from underneath.
The flame goes out as soon as I release the knob. Is that dangerous?
That is a flame-failure device doing its job, or failing at it. It cuts the gas when it does not sense heat. When the thermocouple is dirty or worn it cuts gas to a perfectly healthy flame. Get it checked promptly, and never wedge or tape the knob to bypass it.
How often should the gas hose and regulator be replaced?
The rubber hose roughly every two years, and sooner if it feels hard, sticky or shows surface cracks. The regulator should be checked at the same interval. Both are inexpensive parts and both are among the most common sources of a gas smell.
Do you use genuine spare parts?
ISI-marked spares for safety-critical components such as regulators and hoses, and genuine or equivalent-grade parts for burners, jets and ignition components. The part is shown to you before it goes in, and the old one is left with you.
Is it worth repairing an old gas stove?
Usually yes. The parts that fail are cheap and individually replaceable, while the stove body — the expensive part — almost never fails. You will be told honestly if something is genuinely beyond economical repair rather than sold work that will not last.
Can you move the gas point during a kitchen renovation?
Yes. That is a pipeline re-route: surveyed first, run in copper or GI, concealed with proper sleeving if you want it hidden, then pressure-tested before the appliance is reconnected. It is far easier and cheaper to plan before the granite goes in.
Do you work on restaurant and commercial kitchens?
Yes — bulk cooking ranges, Chinese ranges, tandoor lines, canteen burners and manifolds, with pressure testing under full multi-burner load. Visits are scheduled around your service hours so the kitchen is not losing covers during the work.
My burners weaken when several are running at once. Is that a burner fault?
No — that pattern points at supply or pressure rather than the burners: an undersized manifold, a regulator that cannot meet total demand, or a partially blocked line. It needs the whole circuit pressure-tested under load, not individual burners cleaned.
I am shifting home. Can you disconnect and reconnect the stove?
Yes. The line is isolated and capped safely at the old flat, then reconnected, leak-tested and flame-checked at the new one. Book both ends together so the kitchen is usable the day you move in.
What areas do you cover?
Mira Road, Mira Bhayandar, Bhayandar East and West, Kashimira, Dahisar, Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon, Naigaon and Vasai. If your locality is not listed, call +91 77100 59115 — nearby areas are usually covered as well.
Do you work on Sundays?
Yes. Mon – Sun, 8:00 AM – 9:30 PM, seven days a week including Sundays and most public holidays.
Can I get an idea of the cost before booking?
Yes, and you should. Describe the fault on WhatsApp — brand, burner count, what exactly is happening — and you will get a realistic range before committing to a visit.
